Biology AP :: Semester 1 Review

Here is the AP Bio review (in addition to APUSH) for 1st semester last year (2005). This is a printer-friendly version as I did not do any fancy editing like John since I am Indesign challenged. Anyways, some information are not covered and we may add them later (later as in this weekend) but aside from that, enjoy and good luck :)

EDIT Sunday @ 5 pm: Core Meridian writers are busy with Econ (at least I am), and guest writers are too lazy, so I guess we won’t be adding anything to it :[

AP Biology :: Cell Cycle and Signal Transduction

Notes for tomorrow/wednesday’s quiz are done. Once again, thank David and Jennifer for their help. GL on quiz :)

On a side note, quoting John: “I apologize to your printers.”

AP Biology :: Cell Process and Genetics

Don’t ask how I ended up doing this…. Enjoy it while you can. Certain people aren’t doing their part, so I expect some parts are missing. Obviously not up to par with Government AP notes :) but I expect it’ll be better than what was out before.

EDIT: The parts that aren’t done are Regulation of Gene Expression: Operons and Eukaryotes (transcriptions factors & enhancers..etc) due to a certain individual’s procrastination :)

AP Biology :: Protein Synthesis

Again thanks to our guest writers, we now have our second study guide for AP Bio 1st semester published at decent time >_>

Download: [Meridian]_Protein_Synthesis.pdf

Once again the format of the notes aren’t exactly the same as what the original Meridian staff did last year. I was suppose to read over, edit, and tabulate info if necessary, but apparently Econ and Physics weren’t too friendly on my grade so I didn’t have time >_<;; Anyways, as usual, please contact any staff member/guest writer or comment on post if there are erros and they will be corrected promptly. GL on tomorrow’s quiz :)

AP Biology :: Ecology, Biochemistry, Cell Structure, and Enzymes

w00t, so here is the first semester 1 AP Bio study guide, posted at 2:33 am. -_-;; (I don’t even know why I posted this, no one’s going to read it at this hour)

Download: [Meridian]_Ecology_Biochemistry_Cellstructure_and_Enzymes.pdf

Because this task was short noticed, Meridian had no choice but to hire some friends as our temp writers, so the quality of the notes will not match up to the other Bio AP guides. Also, since I am lazy and it is 2 am, none of this stuff is edited, summarized, quality checked, or proofread except by the original author, so these notes could have errors as well (refer to disclaimer for details). So yea, John and I assisted Lei Gong (our only permanent GW for bio sem1) along with 2 friends and produced this wonderful (haha yea right) 8 page long guide (lol funny its longer than semester 2 stuff). Anyways, read at your own risk and gl on the test today ;)

- Tim

Due to the fact that this guide does not even meet the bare minimum standards of Meridian , it will be taken down till it has gone through rigorous revamping.
Sorry to those who waited for this guide.

Due to requests. This has been put up, unfortunately not edited yet.

Official Closing of the AP Biology Section

Like APUSH, our AP bio section is also coming to a close. Even though we lacked some notes from first semester, I really hope our notes assisted you well in second semester and on the AP.

Hopefully our notes will still continue to be helpful throughout your future classes and for those who have yet to take AP bio. I would also like to thank those who have taken interest in our notes and all your support. Our future science notes will definitely improve from all your comments.

And also…good luck everyone on your final projects :)

Biology AP :: 12 AP Weeks CD Lectures Converted to PDF/WordDoc

All thanks to Anagha, as she wrote all the CD lectures into a more study-able, readable format. Even the pictures replicated the diagrams Ms. Tsai and Mr. Kreiger wrote in the CD lectures.

AP Biology :: Animal Development and Organization

This was the little section that wasn’t tested on any of the other quizzes but is included in this unit. I assume tomorrow’s test will also include some problems on it but if not, they are definitely helpful for studying SAT II Bio and/or AP Bio tests.

AP Biology :: Immune Response and Nervous Systems

This is the final addition for the Animal Systems Exam in Ms. Tsai’s and Mrs. Frazier’s BioAP classes tomorrow.
The other study guides for the exam can be easily located by clicking the “AP Biology” catagory link on the left side.

NOTE: There has been (or will be) two versions two the guide since the first post in which: ["cytotic" was corrected to "cytotoxic" (found in Cell-Mediated Response Section) and in the Diseases Section "B-cells" clarifed as "Beta Cells" (not the immune system B-Cells)]. “Perforin” is also spelled “preforin” under Natural Killer Cells on v1.1, but shall remain that way as Tim is too lazy. If you printed the first version (1.0), I apologize and will be sure to lend you a felt-tipped pen for correction tomorrow (or you could do so yourself).

-John

EDIT: Jeff has pointed out to me that the 119-12x note pages are not included in Meridian (protosomes, coelomate, etc.), I will jump on those notes right away after I am done with the APUSH part. They should be completed in the next hour.
